New Camshaft Has Improved Profile (Shape) Of Exhaust Cams{1210}

Usage:

D379, D398, D399 Industrial, Marine, and Generator Set Engines;
G379, G398, G399 Natural Gas Engines

Description of Change: A new camshaft is used in the above model engines. The new camshaft has a different profile (shape) of the exhaust cams, which lowers the contact stress on the cams. This will lower the rate of wear and extend the service life of the camshaft. The change in design has no effect on engine performance.

NOTE: This change is similar to the earlier change made to D353 Engines, G353 Natural Gas Engines, D9, DD9, SXS D9 Tractors, and 594 Pipelayers. See the article, "New Camshaft Has Improved Profile (Shape) Of Exhaust Cam To Extend Service Life" on Page 8 of the February 2, 1981 Service Magazine.

Adaptable As: Direct replacement. The new camshaft can be used in place of the former camshaft in all earlier engines.
