Installation of Hydraulic Tank{5056} Caterpillar

Introduction

A new O-ring face seal hydraulic tank assembly is now available from the parts department as a replacement for the former hydraulic and fuel tank assembly. Use the same parts to install the new tank assembly as the former tank; except for connection of the fuel supply lines.

Necessary Parts

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect hoses (A), (B), (C) and (D) from the hydraulic and fuel tank assembly.

2. Remove the lines from the primary fuel filter, fuel priming pump, secondary fuel filter and remove the filters and pump. Keep the lines, filters and the pump; as these are needed again.

NOTE: Line (E) and elbow (1) located between the primary fuel filter and the fuel tank is not needed.

3. Remove the three elbows from the tank bulkhead that lines (A), (B) and (C) were connected to. Keep the elbows.

4. Remove the existing hydraulic and fuel tank from the tractor. See the Service Manual for the correct procedure.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the new 6G9935 Hydraulic Tank Assembly on the tractor using the existing hardware.

2. Install the filters and priming pump.

3. Install the three elbows (that were removed earlier) in the tank bulkhead.

4. Connect existing hoses (A), (B) and (C) to the elbows.

5. Install a 2P1326 Elbow (2) with a 7F2060 Locknut at location (F).

6. Install a 017004 Connector (3) on the end of valve (4).

7. Install 6G9869 Hose Assembly (5) between connector (3) and elbow (2).

8. Connect the fuel supply hose to elbow (2) at location (F).
