New Exhaust Gas Recirculation Solenoid Used{1080}

Usage:

3208 Truck Engines ( 32Y, 40S)

Description of Change: A new exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) solenoid and a new fuse are used on the above 3208 Truck Engines. The new solenoid needs less input voltage to work. Voltage drops (reductions) in the electrical system had a greater effect on the former solenoid, because it operated at a higher voltage.

The new EGR solenoid needs a 6 amp fuse for correct operation. Formerly, a 4 amp fuse was used.

Adaptable As: The new 3T5445 (EGR) Solenoid Assembly and 3T5802 Fuse are direct replacements for the former 9N2508 (EGR) Solenoid Assembly and 7N472 Fuse.

It is Caterpillar's recommendation that the new solenoid be used when a replacement is needed. The new 6 amp fuse can also be used with the former solenoid.
