Introduction

There has been a change made to the 9W-1494 Service Meter Kit . In the 9W-1494 Service Meter Kit , the 6T-7337 Service Meter Gp has been replaced by the new 161-3932 Service Meter Gp . The new 161-3932 Service Meter Gp has a longer service life than the former 6T-7337 Service Meter Gp . The longer service life of the 161-3932 Service Meter Gp is due to the following improvements:

• The new 161-3932 Service Meter Gp offers better sealing characteristics than the former 6T-7337 Service Meter Gp . Better sealing characteristics translate to a reduction in water damage.

• The new 161-3932 Service Meter Gp is an electronic service meter. Therefore, the new 161-3932 Service Meter Gp has fewer mechanical parts than the former 6T-7337 Service Meter Gp .

The new 9W-1494 Service Meter Kit includes all of the hardware that is needed to install the new 161-3932 Service Meter Gp . See Table 1.

Procedure

1. Remove the 6T-7337 Service Meter Gp from the machine.

2. Disconnect the signal wire and the ground wire from the 6T-7337 Service Meter Gp . Make note of the color and number of the Ground Wire and the Signal (+) wire.

3. Depending on the machine model, the original connection terminals will be either separate spade terminals or a 7Y-3952 Plug Connector . If separate spade terminals are used, go to Step 3.a. If a 7Y-3952 Plug Connector is used on the 6T-7337 Service Meter Gp , go to Step 3.b.

   1. Connect the signal wire (removed from the 6T-7337 Service Meter Gp ) to Terminal 3 on the new 161-3932 Service Meter Gp . Connect the negative wire (removed from the 6T-7337 Service Meter Gp ) to Terminal 2 (ground) of the new 161-3932 Service Meter Gp . See Illustration 1.

   7Y-3952 Plug Connector

   2. Connect a 200-5722 Wire As. to the 7Y-3952 Plug Connector as follows:
      • Connect the red wire (male terminal) from the 200-5722 Wire As. to the bottom of the 7Y-3952 Plug Connector . See Illustration 3 and Illustration 4.

      • Connect the black wire (male terminal) from the 200-5722 Wire As. to the top of the 7Y-3952 Plug Connector . See Illustration 3 and Illustration 4.

      • Connect the red wire (female end) from the 200-5722 Wire As. to Terminal 3 (signal +) of the new 161-3932 Service Meter Gp . See Illustration 1.

      • Connect the black wire (female end) from the 200-5722 Wire As. to Terminal 2 (ground -) of the new 161-3932 Service Meter Gp . See Illustration 1.

4. Connect the optional unswitched Battery + connection. When the key is in the Off position, this connection is needed in order to view the service meter. This connection is not necessary for the service meter to properly maintain service hours. The unswitched Battery + connection is for viewing only.

   1. Connect the 200-5719 Wire (provided in the 9W-1494 Service Meter Kit ) to Terminal 1 of the new 161-3932 Service Meter Gp . See Illustration 1.

   2. Locate a fused, unswitched battery + source. An example of an unswitched Battery + source would be the key switch power on the machine.

   3. Route the 200-5719 Wire to the fused, unswitched Battery + source. Connect the 200-5719 Wire to the Battery + source.

      Note: Caution must be taken when routing this wire. Ensure that this wire is not located in a pinch area or located in an area in which damage to the wire could occur.

   4. To secure the 200-5719 Wire , use 8L-8413 Cable Straps (provided in the 9W-1494 Service Meter Kit ).

5. Install the 161-3932 Service Meter Gp in the same location as the former 6T-7337 Service Meter Gp .

6. Check the machine for proper operation.
