Description of Change: New Electronic Control Modules (ECMs) are now used on 3408E and 3412E machine engines. One of the differences between the new ECMs and the previous ECMs is that the new ECMs have J1939 data link support.

Adaptable To: The 156-7172 Engine Electronic Control Gp replaces the 172-0802 Engine Electronic Control Gp on 3408E and 3412E machine engines.

On 3408E machine engines (99C and 5XD serial-numbered engines) and 3412E machine engines (80M and 5JJ serial-numbered engines), the 156-7172 Engine Electronic Control Gp replaces the 172-0802 Engine Electronic Control Gp. When the 156-7172 Engine Electronic Control Gp replaces the 172-0802 Engine Electronic Control Gp, new software will have to be flashed into the 156-7172 Engine Electronic Control Gp. This new software is listed in Table 1 and Table 2.

Note: This article applies only to engines equipped with a 174-7526 Fuel Injector Gp or a 174-7528 Fuel Injector Gp (or previous injectors that were replaced by 174-type injectors).
