The crankcase breather is connected to the inlet of the closed crankcase ventilation system. The inlet for the fumes disposal filter is from the crankcase breathers. The outlet of the closed crankcase ventilation system is then connected to the engine air inlet. The fumes are then filtered and the clean air is returned to the clean side of the right air cleaner assembly. The filtered blowby gas is recycled through the combustion system. Oil that is collected in the sump of the assembly of the closed crankcase ventilation system is returned to the engine crankcase through a case drain check valve. The fumes disposal filter is mounted on the right rear side of the engine. Oil that is separated from the fumes is routed through one of the crankcase side covers to the crankcase through a case drain check valve. The filter is rated for a maximum flow of 1217.8 to 1189.5 liters per minute (42 to 43 cfm). The closed crankcase ventilation system operates with an efficiency of 85 to 90% at 0.3 microns. The filter has a recommended change interval of 750 to 1000 operating hours. The filter elements must be disposed of in a container that is approved by the EPA. Crankcase pressure is maintained through an internal spring setting in the filter.
