Start By:
- Remove the air compressor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Compressor - Remove and Install".

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

- Remove the fuel filter with Tooling (A) .
- Disconnect the sensor connector that is located at the top of the unit injector hydraulic pump.
- Disconnect the oil inlet line (2) from the rear of the injector pump body (1) .
- Disconnect the high pressure oil line (7) from rear of the fuel transfer pump (3) .
Note: The engine may be equipped with an oil tube assembly. The tube assembly may be on the supply side or the discharge side of the pump. If the engine is equipped with an oil tube assembly, remove the oil tube assembly from the engine.
- Disconnect fuel supply lines (8) and (10) from the fuel transfer pump.
- Attach a lifting sling to the unit injector hydraulic pump.
Note: The weight of the unit injector hydraulic pump is approximately 29 kg (65 lb).
- Remove the mounting bolts from the unit injector hydraulic pump and remove the pump from the engine.
