There have been some occurrences of event code E1045 (2) Engine Intake Manifold #1 Pressure : Low - moderate severity (2) displayed. The investigation on each event highlighted sometimes the retaining ring holding the wastegate actuator rod to turbocharger was missing.

Inspect the turbocharger to determine if the retaining ring is installed. If the retaining ring is missing, take close-up photographs of the wastegate actuator. The photographs must include the actuator rod and the pin, clearly showing that retaining ring (2) is missing.

Load the photographs to SIMSi under the service claim number.

If the retaining ring is not installed, obtain a new 487-8468 Ring (2). Install the new 487-8468 Ring to the actuator rod (1).

The manufacturing process for the 487-8468 Ring has been improved to improve durability. Any parts ordered after 01 November 2016 will have the improved manufacturing process implemented.
