Automatic Transfer Switches CTS, CTSD Series Caterpillar

Sensors

Usage:

ATS TSG

Normal Pickup Voltage

This adjustment determines the minimum voltage that is required in order to transfer the switch to NORMAL. The range of this setting is 85 to 100 percent. This setting is adjustable in one percent increments. Once the normal power source goes above the pickup voltage, the transfer to NORMAL timer begins. This sensor can be adjusted via the "SET" menu. The factory default setting is 90 percent.

Normal Pickup Frequency

This adjustment determines the minimum frequency that is required in order to transfer the switch to NORMAL. The range of this setting is 90 to 100 percent. This setting is adjustable in one percent increments. Once the normal power source goes above the pickup frequency, the transfer to NORMAL timer begins. This sensor can be adjusted via the "SET" menu. The factory default setting is 95 percent.

Normal Dropout Voltage

This adjustment determines the low voltage threshold. The range of this setting is 75 to 98 percent. This setting is adjustable in one percent increments. The dropout voltage must be a minimum of 2 percent below the pickup voltage. Once the voltage falls below the threshold, the engine start timer begins. This sensor can be adjusted via the "SET" menu. The factory default setting is 80 percent.

Emergency Pickup Voltage

This adjustment determines the minimum voltage that is required in order to transfer the switch to EMERGENCY. The range of this setting is 85 to 100 percent. This setting is adjustable in one percent increments. Once the emergency power source goes above the pickup voltage, the transfer to EMERGENCY timer begins. This sensor can be adjusted via the "SET" menu. The factory default setting is 90 percent.

Emergency Pickup Frequency

This adjustment determines the minimum frequency that is required in order to transfer the switch to EMERGENCY. The range of this setting is 90 to 100 percent. This setting is adjustable in one percent increments. Once the emergency power source goes above the pickup frequency, the transfer to EMERGENCY timer begins. This sensor can be adjusted via the "SET" menu. The factory default setting is 95 percent.

Emergency Dropout Voltage

This adjustment determines the low voltage threshold. The range of this setting is 75 to 98 percent. This setting is adjustable in one percent increments. The dropout voltage must be a minimum of 2 percent below the pickup voltage. Once the voltage falls below the threshold, the transfer to NORMAL timer is bypassed in order to transfer the load to the normal power source. This sensor can be adjusted via the "SET" menu. The factory default setting is 80 percent.

Optional Sensors

Normal Overvoltage

The normal overvoltage sensor is also referred to as the "R1" sensor.

This feature provides a maximum voltage threshold at 110% of the nominal voltage. This feature can be turned ON or OFF via the "CNFG" menu. Once the threshold is exceeded, the engine start timer begins.

Normal Underfrequency

The normal underfrequency sensor is also referred to as the "J1N" sensor.

This feature provides a minimum frequency that is 2 Hz below the pickup frequency. This feature can be turned ON or OFF via the "CNFG" menu. Once the frequency of the normal power source drops below the threshold for more than five seconds, the engine start timer begins.

Normal Overfrequency

The normal overfrequency sensor is also referred to as the "J1N" sensor.

This feature provides a maximum frequency of 2 Hz above the nominal frequency. This feature can be turned ON or OFF via the "CNFG" menu. Once the frequency of the normal power source exceeds the threshold, the engine start timer begins.

Emergency Overvoltage

The emergency overvoltage sensor is also referred to as the "R8" sensor.

This feature provides a maximum voltage at 110% of the nominal voltage. This feature can be turned ON or OFF via the "CNFG" menu. Once the threshold is exceeded, the transfer to NORMAL timer is bypassed in order to transfer the load to the normal power source.

Emergency Underfrequency

The emergency underfrequency sensor is also referred to as the "J2E" sensor.

This feature provides a minimum frequency that is 2 Hz below the pickup frequency. This feature can be turned ON or OFF via the "CNFG" menu. Once the frequency of the emergency power source drops below the threshold for more than five seconds, the transfer to NORMAL timer is bypassed in order to transfer the load to the normal power source.

Emergency Overfrequency

The emergency overfrequency sensor is also referred to as the "J2E" sensor.

This feature provides a maximum frequency that is 2 Hz above the nominal frequency. This feature can be turned ON or OFF via the "CNFG" menu. Once the frequency of the emergency power source exceeds the threshold, the transfer to NORMAL timer is bypassed in order to transfer the load to the normal power source.

Phase Sequencing

The phase sequencing is also referred to as "R16" feature.

This feature prevents transfers from occurring between unequal phase sequences. This condition is primarily caused by an error in the installation. In order to remedy the inconsistent phase rotation between the two sources, verify and correct the connections from both sources. This feature can be turned ON or OFF via the "CNFG" menu. The factory default is ON.
