气缸燃烧产生的功率通过连杆传递给曲轴 (1) 。 曲轴将活塞的往复运动转换成旋转扭矩，以便驱动从动设备。
中间主轴承 (3) 侧面的两个止推片 (2) 控制曲轴的端隙。 8 缸发动机有五个主轴承，12 缸发动机有七个主轴承。 加压的发动机机油通过缸体壁板中的钻道供应到所有主轴承。 这些发动机机油流经曲轴中的钻道，以润滑连杆轴承。
曲轴两端使用了液力油封和承磨衬套 (5) 。 发动机机油由唇形密封进行密封，承磨衬套有助于防止曲轴的磨损。 油封和承磨衬套能够方便部件的更换，有助于降低发动机的维护成本。
压装在曲轴前部的曲轴齿轮 (4) 驱动正时齿轮和机油泵。
减振器安装在曲轴前部，以减少扭振（扭曲），避免损坏发动机部件。
