Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
Note: The turbocharger will be removed from right side of the engine only.
- Remove two nuts (1) on the turbocharger supply line.
- Remove bolt (3) from the clip that fastens the turbocharger supply line in position. Remove turbocharger supply line (2).

Illustration 2 g00768734 - Remove two bolts (5) that fasten elbow (4) to the turbocharger. Remove tube (6).

Illustration 4 g00768736 - Remove the nuts on each end of tube (8) and tube (9). Remove tube (8) and tube (9).
- Remove four bolts (10) from the flange on the turbocharger compressor housing.

Illustration 7 g00768739 - Attach a suitable lifting device on turbocharger (15). Remove four bolts (14). Remove the turbocharger (15). The turbocharger must be lowered in order to remove the turbocharger from the engine. The turbocharger weighs approximately

- Remove seal (17) from the exhaust elbow.

- Remove O-ring seal (19) from the elbow for the turbocharger compressor housing.
