NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a container for storage or disposal.

  2. Disconnect oil lines (2) and (3) from pump (1). Plug and cap the oil lines and the pump in order to prevent oil loss and contamination.

  3. Remove four bolts (4). Remove pump (1).

  4. Remove bolts (5), (6), and (7). Remove the four bolts and bracket (9). Remove adapter (8).

  5. Remove four bolts (12). Remove elbow (11) and tube (10).

  6. Remove the flange and tube (13) from the engine oil cooler bonnet.

  7. Install Tool (A) and attach a suitable lifting device to engine oil pump (14).

  8. Remove bolts (15).

  9. Remove engine oil pump (14). The weight of the engine oil pump is approximately 39 kg (86 lb).
