Removal Procedure

1. Place an identification mark on all electrical wires that are connected to the starting motor. Disconnect the electrical wires from the starting motor.

2. Remove three nuts (2) . Support the starting motor. Remove the starting motor from the engine.

1. Clean the flange of the starting motor. If adapter plate (1) has been removed, clean the mounting surface of the flywheel housing. Clean adapter plate (1) .

2. If adapter plate (1) has been removed, apply a continuous bead of Loctite 596 to the face of the flywheel housing.

   Note: Do not install the starting motor without adapter plate (1) .

3. Install bolts (4) onto the flywheel housing. Install adapter plate (1) . Tighten the bolts.

4. Apply a continuous bead of Loctite 596 to the flange of starting motor (3) .

5. Install the starting motor onto the adapter plate. Install three nuts (2) . Tighten the nuts.

6. Connect the electrical wires for the starting motor.
