Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Drain the oil from the engine oil cooler into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

Illustration 1 g01038823 - Disconnect tube assemblies (6) and (7).
- Remove bolts (1) that hold oil cooler bonnet (2) to engine oil cooler (3). Remove oil cooler bonnet (2). Remove bolts (4) that hold oil cooler bonnet (5) to engine oil cooler (3).
- Attach a suitable lifting device to engine oil cooler (3). The weight of engine oil cooler (3) is approximately
36 kg (80 lb) . Remove engine oil cooler (3).
