Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the assembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
- Attach Tooling (E), Tooling (F), and a suitable lifting device to upper structure (18) and position upper structure (18). Use Tooling (F) in order to level upper structure (18). The weight of upper structure (18) is approximately 1179 kg (2600 lb).

- Install bolts (17). Tighten bolts (17) to a torque of 80 ± 15 N·m (59 ± 11 lb ft).
- Remove Tooling (E), Tooling (F), and the suitable lifting device from upper structure (18) .
- Rotate the upper structure in order to install remaining bolts (17). Tighten bolts (17) to a torque of 80 ± 15 N·m (59 ± 11 lb ft).

- Connect tube assembly (16) .

- Connect hose (14) and hose assemblies (15) .

- Install the swing motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Swing Motor - Install".
- Install the cab. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cab - Install".
- Install Tooling (A) to the boom and install a suitable lifting device. Position boom assembly (10). The weight of boom assembly (10) is approximately 454 kg (1000 lb).

- Install pin assembly (12) and the shims. Use Tooling (D) in order to install retaining ring (11). Connect hose assembly (13) .
- Connect hose assemblies (8). Install clamp (9) .

- Install pin assembly (7). Use Tooling (D) in order to install retaining ring (6) .

- Remove the suitable lifting strap and Tooling (B) from boom cylinder (5) .
- Connect hose assemblies (2), (3), and (4) and install the mounting hardware. Install cover (1) .

- Remove Tooling (A), Tooling (B), Tooling (C), and the suitable lifting chain.
