Swing Pump Control (Mechanical Zero) - Test and Adjust

Usage:

M318C BCZ
This procedure is utilized to set the swing pump swashplate at a zero degree angle. While the swashplate is at the zero degree angle, the pressure in each side of the closed loop swing circuit should equal the swing charge pressure.

    (10) Pressure tap (Swing right)

Note: Begin the check with a 10000 kPa (1450 psi) pressure gauge before the 4000 kPa (580 psi) pressure gauge is connected.

  1. Connect 4000 kPa (580 psi) pressure gauges to pressure taps (8) and (10) .

  1. Place the swing lock pin in the LOCK position.

Note: Machines that are equipped with a fixed cab riser are not equipped with a swing lock pin. Place the swing brake switch in the ON position in order to engage the swing brake.

  1. Start the engine.

  1. Place the power mode switch in the Mode P position.

  1. Adjust the engine speed to position 6 by turning the engine speed dial.

  1. Check the pressure readings on the gauges at pressure taps (8) and (10). Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Specifications" in this manual for the correct swing charge pressure.

Note: If the pressures are not to specifications, adjust the swing charge pressure. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve (Swing Charge Pressure) - Test and Adjust" in this manual. If the pressures at pressure taps (8) and (10) are not equal, adjust the mechanical zero position of the swing pump.

  1. To adjust the mechanical zero position, loosen the locknut of adjustment screw (9) on the servo valve.

  1. Turn adjustment screw (9) until the pressure at pressure taps (8) and (10) is equal.

  1. Tighten the locknut on adjustment screw (9) to the specified torque. Secure the locknut with Loctite.
