Relief Valve (Pilot) - Test and Adjust - No Medium Pressure Control Valve

Usage:

M318C BCZ
The pilot relief valve limits the maximum pressure of the pilot hydraulic system.

    The remote pressure taps are located behind the left access door.

    (1) Pressure tap (Pilot pressure)

  1. Stop the engine.

  1. Connect a 4000 kPa (580 psi) pressure gauge to pressure tap (1) .

  1. Start the engine.

  1. Adjust the engine speed to HIGH IDLE by turning the engine speed dial to position 10.

  1. Increase the hydraulic oil temperature to 55° ± 5°C (131° ± 9°F).

  1. Check the pilot pressure at pressure tap (1). Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Specifications" in this manual for the correct pilot pressure.

  1. Loosen locknut (3) .

  1. Remove cap (2). Turn pilot relief valve adjustment screw in order to change the pilot pressure.

    Note: Turn the adjustment screw clockwise in order to increase the pilot pressure. Turn the adjustment screw counterclockwise in order to decrease the pilot pressure.

  1. Tighten locknut (3) to the specified torque.

    Note: The pressure will increase by approximately 250 kPa (36 psi) when adjustment screw (2) is turned by 1 turn.

    Note: Always make the final pressure adjustments on the pressure rise.
