Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

- Install 4C-9910 Portable Hydraulic Tester between both of the hammer lines at the end of the stick.
- Start the engine.
To prevent personal injury or equipment damage from failure of the hydraulic test equipment or associated circuit components because of blocked pump flow, make sure that the test equipment valves are fully open before starting the engine. |
To prevent personal injury and/or equipment damage from failed lines or components while the hydraulic test equipment is returned to the open flow position, slowly open the hydraulic test equipment valve while monitoring the pump flow. If pump flow does not increase as the valve is opened, shut the engine off and determine what is preventing the pump from upstroking. |
- Adjust the engine speed to HIGH IDLE by turning the engine speed dial to position 10.
- At the soft switch panel, select "Power Mode P" by pushing down on the button for power mode control (26). The second indicator light will illuminate when "Power Mode P" has been selected.
For the M322C machine, select "Power Mode T" by pushing down on the button for power mode control (26). The third indicator light will illuminate when "Power Mode T" has been selected.

- Remove cap (25) .
- Loosen locknut (24) .
- Turn the adjustment screw clockwise until the screw contacts the stop.
Oil Flow Adjustment
- Remove cap (22) .
- Loosen locknut (23) .
- Lower the left console.
- Press the hammer pedal in the back direction in order to build pressure in the hydraulic circuit.
- Check the oil flow to the hammer. If necessary, increase the oil flow or decrease the oil flow.
Note: The specifications for the pressure, the flow rate, and the engine rpm may vary with attachment types and/or suppliers. It is very important to follow the specifications of the supplier. Failure to follow the specifications of the supplier could result in poor performance of the attachment.
Note: Turn the adjustment screw that is inside of locknut (23) counterclockwise in order to increase the oil flow. Turn the adjustment screw clockwise in order to decrease the oil flow.
- When the flow is adjusted, hold the adjustment screw in place while locknut (23) is tightened.
- Install cap (22) .
Line Relief Valve Adjustment
- Close left attachment valve (1) and right attachment valve (3) at the end of the hammer lines. This will allow pressure to build up when the hammer is operated.
- Lower the left console.
- Press the hammer pedal in the back direction in order to build pressure in the hydraulic circuit.
- Adjust the hammer relief valve to the manufacturer's recommended pressure setting by turning the adjustment screw that is inside of locknut (24) counterclockwise.
Note: Make the final pressure adjustments on the pressure rise.
- Tighten locknut (24) to the specified torque while you hold the adjustment screw.
- Install cap (25) .
