A modification to the 114-2410 Pyrometer has increased the shelf life of the digital pyrometer battery from 1.5 years to 5 years. The battery shelf life will decrease with an increase in ambient temperatures. This modification is effective with 114-2410 Pyrometer serial numbers 4018 and Up.
A Field Modification Procedure has been developed in order to provide increased shelf life to earlier pyrometers. This field modification is adaptable to 114-2410 Pyrometer serial numbers 3001 through 4017. This field modification can be performed when the pyrometer batteries are changed.
Field Modification Procedure
- Loosen the four screws that go through the front keypad so that the device comes apart.
- Remove the three batteries.
- Remove the three small screws that fasten the circuit board to the front keypad plate. Do NOT LOSE these screws.
- Find the location of the resistor "R11B" on the display side of the circuit board. "R11B" is on the lower left corner of the circuit board. Use small wire cutters to carefully cut the leads at each end of the resistor "R11B". Use care not to damage the resistor "R11C". Resistor "R11C" is located immediately above resistor "R11B".
- Use the three small screws that were retained in Step 3 to install the circuit board on the keypad plate.
- Install three new batteries. The following batteries are recommended: Duracell PX28L, Sanyo 2CR-1/3N and Altronic 601258. Take note of the battery polarity during installation.
- Reassemble the pyrometer and install the four screws that were removed in Step 2.
