Crankshaft - Remove

Usage:

3196 2XR

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the engine oil pump.
  2. Remove the front housing.
  3. Remove the flywheel housing.
  4. Remove the cylinder head.
  5. Remove the pistons and connecting rods.


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Remove bolts (1) .

  1. Remove crankshaft main bearing caps (2) .

  1. Remove crankshaft thrust bearings (3) .

    Note: Crankshaft main bearing caps (2) are marked with the numbers 1 through 7. Crankshaft main bearing caps (2) that are not marked should be marked with the corresponding cylinder number on the side that is toward the right side of the engine.

  1. Install a suitable bolt into each end of the crankshaft. Fasten suitable lifting device (4) to the bolts in the crankshaft. Remove the crankshaft. The weight of the crankshaft is approximately 129 kg (285 lb).

  1. Remove the upper halves of the crankshaft main bearings.
