Removal Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

    Typical Example

  1. Remove two bolts (1) from each end of oil drain tube (3). Remove oil drain tube (3) .

  1. Remove tube (4) .

  1. Remove four bolts (2) .

  1. Loosen clamp (7) and remove hose (8).

  1. Remove the bolt and washer (5) .

  1. Remove the tube (6) .

  1. Remove air inlet tube (12) .

  1. Remove four nuts (9) .

    Typical Example

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device (11) to the turbocharger (10) and remove turbocharger (10) from the engine. The weight of the turbocharger is approximately 23 kg (51 lb).
