Boom Base Pins - Lubricate
Note: Caterpillar recommends the use of 5% molybdenum grease for lubricating the boom linkage. Refer to Special Publication, SEBU6250, "Caterpillar Machine Fluids Recommendations" for more information on molybdenum grease.
When the boom pin is replaced, lubricate the new boom pin.

- Park the machine on a level surface and lower the work tool to the ground.

(1) Vent plug
(2) FittingNote: Vent plug (1) and fitting (2) are on the base of the boom.
- Remove vent plug (1).
- Apply lubricant through fitting (2) until lubricant comes out of the plug hole.
- Install vent plug (1).
