Cooling System Level - Check

Usage:

  • Open the access door on the left side of the machine.

      (A) "FULL" Level

      (B) "LOW" Level

    1. Check the coolant level of the coolant reservoir. Maintain the coolant level between the "FULL" mark and the "LOW" mark.

      If the reservoir is empty, use steps 2.a through 2.k .

      1. Unlatch the engine hood and raise the engine hood.

      1. Slowly loosen the cooling system pressure cap in order to relieve system pressure. Remove the pressure cap.

        Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information" for information on containing fluid spillage.

      1. Open the air bleed valve that is located on the coolant line at the top of the engine.

      1. Add the appropriate coolant solution to the cooling system. Refer to the following topics:

        • Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Specifications"

        • Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities"

      1. Close the air bleed valve.

      1. Start the engine. Operate the engine without the cooling system pressure cap until the water temperature regulator opens and the coolant level stabilizes.

      1. Maintain the coolant level within 13 mm (0.5 inch) of the bottom of the radiator filler pipe.

      1. Inspect the gasket of the cooling system pressure cap. If the gasket is damaged, replace the pressure cap.

      1. Install the cooling system pressure cap.

      1. Stop the engine.

      1. Close the engine hood and latch the engine hood.

      Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information" for information on containing fluid spillage.

    1. If additional coolant is necessary, remove the reservoir cap and add the appropriate coolant solution.

    1. Install the reservoir cap.

    1. Close the access door.
