Cooling System Level - Check

- Check the coolant level of the coolant reservoir. Maintain the coolant level between the "FULL" mark and the "LOW" mark.
If the reservoir is empty, use steps 2.a through 2.k .
- Unlatch the engine hood and raise the engine hood.

- Slowly loosen the cooling system pressure cap in order to relieve system pressure. Remove the pressure cap.
Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information" for information on containing fluid spillage.

- Open the air bleed valve that is located on the coolant line at the top of the engine.

- Add the appropriate coolant solution to the cooling system. Refer to the following topics:
- Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Specifications"
- Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities"
- Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Specifications"
- Close the air bleed valve.
- Start the engine. Operate the engine without the cooling system pressure cap until the water temperature regulator opens and the coolant level stabilizes.
- Maintain the coolant level within 13 mm (0.5 inch) of the bottom of the radiator filler pipe.
- Inspect the gasket of the cooling system pressure cap. If the gasket is damaged, replace the pressure cap.

- Install the cooling system pressure cap.
- Stop the engine.
- Close the engine hood and latch the engine hood.

- If additional coolant is necessary, remove the reservoir cap and add the appropriate coolant solution.
Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information" for information on containing fluid spillage.
- Install the reservoir cap.
- Close the access door.
