SUBJECT: EXCESSIVE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE PIN ASSEMBLY AND THE
RETAINING PLATE IN THE BUCKET LINKAGE

PROBLEM:

The JB-Family bucket linkage may have excessive clearance between the end of the pin assembly and the plate that retains the pin. The excessive clearance may cause the retaining bolts for the pin assembly to loosen. The loose pin can cause damage to the hinge assembly on the bucket.

SOLUTION:

If there is excessive clearance between the pin assembly and the retaining plate, washers can be installed in order to eliminate the clearance. Assemble the washers between the end of the pin and the retaining plate. The chart lists the washers that are available for the repair. Use the combination of washers that is necessary to eliminate the clearance. Illustration 2 shows the location for the installation of the washers.

If washers are added in order to eliminate the clearance, longer bolts will also be necessary. Remove the three 7X-2562 Bolts and install three 7X-2563 Bolts that are 15 mm (.59 inch) longer. Add the same quantity of washers to each of the three bolts. Illustration 2 and Illustration 3 show the locations of the bolts.
