PROBLEM
On skid steer loaders, certain BH27, BH30, and BH30W Backhoe Loader work tools may not be secured sufficiently and become uncoupled. This can cause the backhoe loader work tool to come into the operator area causing serious injury or death.AFFECTED PRODUCT

Group 1All product/serial numbers in Group 1 need to be covered as per normal service letter conditions.
Group 2
All product/serial numbers in Group 2 will
be covered by a direct mailing and you do not need to carry out this service
letter unless contacted by your customer. If the customer contacts you,
then make your service claim as normal.
The decal must be fitted to the hose guard of the Backhoe as shown in the above illustration.
The details contained in the new Operators Manual needs to be made available to all potential operators with particular attention to the "Operation Section, Work Tool Installation and Removal". These instructions must be fully understood by all operators before installing, removing or operating the Backhoe Work Tool.

A new 262-0580 self-adhesive warning film and a revised Operation And Maintenance Manual, SEBU7537-02 or later, needs to be installed on the products listed below. The backhoe loader may become uncoupled from the skid steer loader, possibly causing serious injury or death to the operator. You will not be charged for parts or the service performed.
You can choose to perform the work yourself or contact your dealer. If you choose to fit the self-adhesive warning film yourself, please either contact Caterpillar on the following toll free number, 800-321-7332, or enter your details at the Caterpillar web site: http://www.cat.com/cda/components/fullArticle?m=37400&x=7&id=253078. A new self-adhesive warning film and Operation and Maintenance Manual will be shipped to you. If you choose to contact your local Caterpillar dealer, please do so immediately to schedule this service at no cost to you. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated July 21, 2005 when scheduling this service.
