Note: Check the backlash between pinion (6) and pinion drive gear (7). The camshaft should be pushed back against the camshaft thrust washer. The pinion should be pushed against the pinion's thrust washer.

(1) Assemble shims to 1.0 mm (0.039 inch) thickness. Install governor drive. The backlash between the pinion (6) and the pinion drive gear (7) is the following measurement. ... 0.25 ± 0.05 mm (0.010 ± 0.002 inch)

Note: Add or remove shims in order to obtain the correct backlash.

(2) End play for pinion ... 0.10 ± 0.05 mm (0.004 ± 0.002 inch)

(3) Bore in bearings for shaft ... 24.993 ± 0.033 mm (0.9840 ± 0.0013 inch)

Diameter of shaft ... 24.925 ± 0.010 mm (0.9813 ± 0.0004 inch)

(4) Thickness of new thrust washer ... 8.00 ± 0.05 mm (0.315 ± 0.002 inch)

(5) Height of dowels above the housing ... 6.0 ± 0.5 mm (0.24 ± 0.02 inch)
