The existing clip can wear into the fuel return hose, or the hose can rub on the block and flywheel housing if the clip is omitted causing a fuel leak on certain 365C Excavators.

The fuel return line needs to be updated on the products listed below. The existing fuel return hose can rub and wear through resulting in a fuel leak. You will not be charged for the service performed.

Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.

Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 27Jul2009 when scheduling this service.

We regret the inconvenience this may cause you, but urge you to have this service performed as soon as possible to prevent unscheduled downtime.

Rework Procedure

****Prior to starting this repair, refer to the Hydraulic Information System in SIS Web in order to construct the 237-2706 fuel hose assembly.****

The current hose may be clipped with a one-piece clamp or laying across the flywheel housing and needs to be reworked.

1. Remove hose and clip if present. Do not reuse the removed hose, clip, and hardware.

2. Attach one end of the previously made 237-2706 Hose to the fuel regulator assembly and the other end to the elbow on the rear of the cylinder head.

3. Install the two-piece 8T-1887 and 8T-1888 Clip with 100-3237 Grommet on the existing bracket using a 8T-4136 Bolt and 8T-4121 Washer. Tighten the clip bolt allowing approximately 5mm of clearance between the corner of block and approximately 5mm of clearance between the flywheel housing.

4. Start the machine and check for leaks.

Group Number 2

1. Remove the 2 piece P-clip and grommet. Do not reuse.

2. Install the new two-piece 8T-1887 and 8T-1888 Clip with 100-3237 Grommet on the existing bracket using a 8T-4136 Bolt and 8T-4121 Washer. Tighten the clip bolt allowing approximately 5mm of clearance between the corner of block and approximately 5mm of clearance between the flywheel housing.
