Description Of Change: An improved rear pump drive bolt is available for the machines listed above. The improved bolt has a black colored coating and a greater fatigue life. Earlier bolts had a silver colored coating.

Adaptable To: Improved pump drive bolt is adaptable to the machines within the listed serial numbers, and is effective in production with all the machines after the listed serial numbers.

If the idler shaft is removed from the pump drive, it must be frozen to −35° C (−30° F) to reduce the press fit during installation. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly procedures for Rear Pump Drive. The frozen idler shaft then must be allowed to warm within ± 8° C or ± 15° F of room temperature before installing and tightening the bolt.

Note: Do not over torque the bolt. Over torquing will lead to early failure of the bolt.

Note: If the bolt (1) is used to assist with the installation of the frozen idler shaft, then bolt (1) should be removed and scrapped after the installation. In this case, a new bolt (1) is installed and tightened to specification.
