Problem
Users noticed that certain Cat® Product Link (PL542) devices are not registering in Cat Connect Digital Services (CCDS). The device is registering the equipment serial number as device ID and registration timestamp.
Solution
Caterpillar is aware of this problem, the root cause has been identified, and the correction is expected in the upcoming back-office release PI4 expected to be released by January 2019.
Until the resolution is implemented, dealers facing the issues in registering devices through the back office can submit a Dealer Solution Network (DSN) ticket. So that Caterpillar can request another registration message which should register the device.
