Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect harness assembly (1). Open cover (2).

2. Remove nut (3), lock washer (4), and wiper arm assembly (5).

3. Remove screw (6) and cover (7).

4. Disconnect harness assembly (9).

5. Support wiper motor assembly (8). Remove wiper cap (12), nut (11), cap nut (10), and wiper motor assembly (8).

Installation Procedure

1. Install the wiper motor assembly and the wiper arm assembly in the reverse order of removal.

   1. Use the following torque to tighten cap nut (10):
      

      1. If mounted on glass, tighten cap nut (10) to 6.5 ± 0.5 N·m (57.5 ± 4.4 lb in).

      2. If mounted on steel, tighten cap nut (10) to 7.5 ± 0.5 N·m (66.4 ± 4.4 lb in).

   2. Use the following torque to tighten nut (11):
      

      1. If mounted on glass, tighten nut (11) to 5.5 ± 0.5 N·m (48.7 ± 4.4 lb in).

      2. If mounted on steel, tighten nut (11) to 9 ± 1 N·m (80 ± 9 lb in).

   3. Use the following tightening procedure during the wiper arm assembly installation:
      

      1. Tighten nut (3) to 21 ± 1 N·m (186 ± 9 lb in).

      2. Wait for minimum 0.5 hour to maximum 4 hours.

      3. Again, tighten nut (3) to 21 ± 1 N·m (186 ± 9 lb in).

      Field torque check:

      Tighten nut (3) to 12 N·m (106 lb in) minimum.
