The lubrication for output transfer gears (37) is supplied by the transmission hydraulic system. Scavenger pump (11) is used to ensure that adequate lubrication oil is delivered to the transmission, torque converter, flywheel, and output transfer gears.
Transmission oil pump (19) draws oil from transmission sump (10) through screen (9). The pump supplies pressure oil through filter (20) to the following components:
- Interaxle differential solenoid (17)
- Main relief valve (21)
- Clutch (1) ECPV valve through clutch (6) ECPV valve
- Torque converter lockup clutch ECPV valve (7)
Some of the low-pressure oil from relief valve (21) will flow to the torque converter at torque converter relief valve pressure. Oil from the torque converter flows through the oil cooler to the transmission lubrication system. Part of the oil in the transmission lubrication system lubricates the output transfer gears. Relief valve (12) limits the maximum pressure to the transmission lubrication system.
Return oil from the output transfer gear lubrication and the IAD solenoid drain into the OTG sump. Scavenger pump (11) supplies oil to transmission sump (10).
Transmission oil filter (20) is located behind the cab on the left of the machine. The base of the oil filter contains a bypass valve. The bypass valve will allow the oil to continue to the output transfer gears in the event of a blockage in the oil filter. A switch notifies the operator in the event of a blockage in the oil filter.
