Rotator Head Bolts - Replace

Rotate the grapple at least 10 complete revolutions per day, allowing hydraulic oil to completely flow through all lines. |
- Position the work tool with the jaws in the open position on a flat surface. Refer to illustration 1 for the correct position.
- Stop the engine of the host machine to prevent inadvertent movement of the work tool.

- Clean the threaded bolt hole.
- Clean the new rotator head bolt (2).
- Coat the entire threaded area of the new rotator head bolt (2) with lock tight compound.

Tighten the new rotator head bolt (2). Use appropriate tooling to apply the torque that is specified in table.
Note: Tighten two bolts 180° apart to specified torque. Tighten two bolts 180° apart and 90° apart from the first two bolts to specified torque. Follow the torquing procedure of cross torquing bolts until all bolts are torqued.
- Place a mark on the new rotator head bolt (2) that was replaced. Indicating that the bolt has been replaced.
- Repeat steps 3 through step 9 for all rotator head bolts (2) in upper head (1) of the rotator following the cross torquing sequence noted.

- Remove bolts (4) and (5) from both sides.
- Remove cover (6) from both sides of lower head .
- Remove rotator head bolt (7) and the washer on the inside lower head.
- Clean the threaded bolt hole.
- Clean the new rotator head bolt (7).
- Coat the entire threaded area of the new rotator head bolt (7) with lock tight compound.
- Install the new rotator head bolt (7) into the inside lower head. Tighten the new rotator head bolt (7). Use appropriate tooling to apply the torque that is specified in table.
Note: Tighten two bolts 180° apart to specified torque. Tighten two bolts 180° apart and 90° apart from the first two bolts to specified torque. Follow the torquing procedure of cross torquing bolts until all bolts are torqued.
- Place a mark on the new rotator head bolt (7) that was replaced. Indicating that the bolt has been replaced. Move onto the next rotator head bolt (7).
- Repeat steps 13 through step 18 for all rotator head bolts (7) on the inside lower head.
- Install cover (6). Install bolts (4) ( 5). Install the cover assemblies on both sides of lower head.
