Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.
Problem
Operators have been concerned by noise from the power trains of the listed machines. There is the potential for unnecessary maintenance work to be conducted. This Technical Information Bulletin identifies one source of noise from the power train that is under investigation.
The noise can be generated by operation of the Automatic Traction Control (ATC). The power train can make a noise when there is partial engagement of the cross axle differential locks (XAD). There is no indication the noise is detrimental to the operation of the machine.
Solution
Currently, there is no solution for the noise. The root cause for the noise being generated is under investigation.
Do not perform any troubleshooting or removal of components to try to eliminate the noise until investigation concludes the cause of the noise.
Any loss of function of the Automatic Traction Control (ATC), must be investigated normally. Any indications of wear found during periodic SOS samples, must be investigated normally.
