Service Brake (Wheel Spindle) - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the wheel and tire (rear).

  2. Remove the drive chain.

  1. Remove bolts (1) and guard (2).

  2. Disconnect tube assembly (3).

  3. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to service brake (wheel spindle) (4). The weight of service brake (wheel spindle) (4) is approximately 272 kg (600 lb).

  4. Remove bolts (5) and service brake (wheel spindle) (4).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install service brake (wheel spindle) (4) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of bolts (5).

    2. Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 270 ± 40 N·m (199 ± 30 lb ft).
