(A) Cracked mirror

The 357-9682 Mirror Gp and 447-8919 Mirror As made with improved tempering process may crack on the machines listed above. The improved mirror assemblies can be identified by a date code etched in the upper right-hand corner of the mirror.

^( 1 )	Requires the use of one front lighting harness as (6) on 770G, 772G, 773G and 775G trucks.
^( 2 )	Required for used with the heated rear view mirror gp (2) on 770G, 772G, 773G and 775G trucks.

Caterpillar is aware of this problem, and is recommending the below changes to address the failure.

Replace a failed 357-9681 Mirror Gp or 447-8915 Mirror As with a 153-4010 Mirror As . Replace a failed 357-9682 Mirror Gp (HEATED, 24-VOLT) or 447-8919 Mirror As (heated) with a 221-9264 Rear View Mirror Gp (HEATED) .

The 153-4010 Mirror As or 221-9264 Rear View Mirror Gp (HEATED) will require spacers for mounting to the mirror bracket. The 221-9264 Rear View Mirror Gp (HEATED) will require a harness to connect the mirror to the existing machine harness on the 770G, 772G, 773G and 775G. The 777G will not require the additional harness. Table 1 provides the parts for installing the mirrors.

Table 2 provides the adaptability and effectivity of the mirrors.

Remove the existing mirror.

Install the desired mirror using one bolt (4), one hard washer (5) and one spacer (3) at the top and bottom mounting bracket.

If a heated mirror has been installed one harness assembly is required.
