Usage:
C-12 (2KS),
3406E (1MN, 2WS) TRUCK ENGINES EQUIPPED WITH EATON AUT0-SHIFT TRANSMISSION
Problem:
There has been a software "Bug" identified which may affect the above engines operating in trucks equipped with Eaton Auto-Shift Transmissions. Once the engine is warm, the engine may be "sluggish" below 7th gear, when operating under a light load (or while "bob tailing")at 1200 - 1500 rpm, when the Top Engine Limit is programmed below 1900 rpm.
Solution:
Programming the Top Engine Limit (TEL) to 2120 rpm will significantly reduce the occurrence of this problem. Since the Eaton Auto-Shift Transmission is a automated manual transmission and determines the shift points, the 2120 rpm TEL will not adversely affect the vehicle operation. A software update to fix this problem is scheduled for early in the second quarter of 1999.
