Properly support the component with a suitable lifting device during removal or installation.


  1. Prepare the machine for maintenance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Prepare the Machine for Maintenance".

  2. Shutdown and de-energizing the machine. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Electrical Shutdown and Voltage Discharge".

  3. Position Tooling (A) under the front axle (1). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Jacking Locations - Front of the Machine".

  4. Position Tooling (A1) under the front axle (1). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Jacking Locations - Front of the Machine". Refer to Tool Operating Manual, NEHS1334, "Lift Group (Stand - 150 Ton)" for more information on Tooling (A1).

    Note: Mark the alignment of the rim and the wheel for assembly purposes.

  5. Use Tooling (B) to remove nuts (2).

    Note: Do not remove two of nuts (2) at Locations (X) to retain the tire and rim.

  6. Use a suitable tire handler to support tire and rim assembly (3).

    Note: Due to different rim and tire configurations, the actual weight for tire and rim (3) may vary significantly. The weight of tire and rim (3) is likely to exceed 7711 kg (17000 lb).

  7. Use Tooling (B) to remove the two remaining nuts (2) from Locations (X).

  8. Remove tire and rim (3).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install tire and rim (3) in the reverse order of removal.

      Note: Before the tires and the rims are installed, thoroughly clean the wheel studs. Remove any paint, debris, or other contaminants.

    1. Use Tooling (B) to tighten nuts (2) to a torque of 3100 ± 350 N·m (2286 ± 258 lb ft).
