Cat® Command for Dozing, Operator Station Caterpillar

Electrical Input Components

Usage:

D11T AMA

Indicator Lights

The system uses two sets of four indicator lights to convey system status to the operator and anyone working in the area around the machine. The blue, green, and red indicators are used to convey the remote control system status to anyone working near the machine.

Indicator Lights (System Status)

Illustration 2g03705229
Blue mode indicator

The Blue System Status indicator lights connect to contact 6 of the RCM, J2 connector. The blue indicators are used to provide remote control status. When the Manual/Remote Mode switch on the ground level service center (GLSC) is placed in the remote position, the blue indicators will turn solid blue. A Solid blue indicator signifies that the RC System is enabled (but not active). Once the operator station has established communication with the onboard control, the indicator will blink every 2 seconds. This blink signifies the RC System is active. If this indicator is OFF, the RC System is disabled (either by Manual/Remote Mode switch on the GLSC or by the Manual Override switch in cab)

Illustration 3g03705231
Amber mode indicator

The Avoidance Mode Indicator lights (Amber) connect to contact 12 of the RCM connector J1.

Amber indicators are used for Terrain Avoidance Zone Status. Terrain is Optional. For more information on the Terrain avoidance system operation refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU8519, "Cat® Command for Dozing, Remote Operator Station".

Illustration 4g03705232
Red mode indicator

The RC Stop Mode Indicator lights (Red) connect to contact 7 of the RCM, connector J2.

When a Remote Shutdown is commanded or a Software Stop is active, the Red indicator lamp flashes twice per second and the RC Status (Blue) indicator lamp is solid.

The red indicator lamp is used either when:

  • Avoidance Stop active (with avoidance installed)

  • Level 3 Event or Diagnostics

  • A Remote Shutdown is commanded

  • A Software Stop is active

  • An A-Stop is active

Note: Regardless of the machines position in relation to an avoidance zone, the remote control active light will be blinking blue at a rate of two times per second, when in Remote Control mode.

Green mode indicator

When the Manual/Remote Mode switch on the ground level service center (GLSC) is placed in the manual position or the system is placed into Manual override, the green indicators will turn solid green. The green indicators illuminated solid green signifies that the RC System is disabled.

Manual Override Switch

Illustration 6g03704601

The Manual Override switch (1) is used to place the machine into manual mode and overrides the remote control system. The Manual Override switch is a momentary switch with the default position being the REMOTE MODE position. To place the machine back into remote control mode once the manual override mode is entered, the user must cycle the Manual / Remote Mode switch on the Ground Level Service Center.

Note: When the Manual Override switch, manual position has been pressed, the remote control RCM remains powered. The Manual Override switch is identified with a red rectangle surrounding the switch. The red identification makes the switch more easily seen when needed.

The switch is a two-position momentary rocker switch. The switch has ten contacts. When the switch MANUAL (momentary) position is pressed, contact 2 and contact 3 are connected, and contact 5 and contact 6 are connected. When the switch is in the Remote position contact 2 and contact 1 are connected, and contact 5 and contact 4 are connected. Contact 7 and contact 9 are used to control the manual LED in the Switch. Contact 10 and Contact 8 are used to control the Remote LED in the switch. The LEDs are built in voltage indicators. If the Manual LED is lit, the RC System is powered. If the Remote LED is lit, the Blue indicator should be lit or flashing.

The RC Manual Override Switch is activated in the ECM by sending the R918 Manual NO to the Digital Return J842.

The Ground Level Service Center (GLSC) provides ground level access to the operator to activate the Command system. The GLSC is also a means to shut down the engine if necessary. The GLSC is mounted to the lower left-hand ripper cylinder, the counterweight of the machine, or the drawbar depending on the configuration of the machine.

Manual/Remote Mode Switch

The Manual/Remote Mode Switch is on the GLSC of the machine. Refer to Illustration 8.

Illustration 9g03795447

The Manual/Remote Mode switch powers the System Master (RCM). The remote control system is disabled (powered down) when the switch is in the Manual Mode position. The Remote control system is enabled (powered) when the switch is in the Remote Mode position.

The switch is a two-position rotary switch. The switch has six contacts. Contacts 1-3 are used to power up/down the RC System. Contacts 4-6 are used by the RC System to check for diagnostic conditions of the switch. When the switch is in the remote position, contact 1 and contact 2 are connected, and contact 4 and contact 5 are connected. When in the manual position contact 2 and contact 3 are connected, and contact 5 and contact 6 are connected.

Engine Shutdown Switch (D10T and D11T Only)

Illustration 10g02450497

The Engine Shutdown switch is located in the GLSC of the machine.

The Engine Shutdown switch is a single pole, double throw switch. The switch is normally open (engine OFF) when the switch is pushed in by the operator. The switch is normally in closed state when the switch is pulled out. This position indicates to the ECM of the engine, that the engine may be ON.

Note: This switch works in either manual or remote mode. Once the engine is shut down via this switch, cycle the machine power by the current method of control (cab key if in manual mode or machine power switch-on Operator Station if in remote mode).

The switch has three contacts in the harness connector. Contact 1, 2 and 3 connect to the ECM. Although this switch has a 4-pin connection, contact 4 is not populated. Refer to Table 1.
