The System Master (RCM) is an A5:M6 and is connected to the other electronic system ECMs using the electronic system of the machine. Connection is done via the CAN Data Link. The CAN Data Link will be used for all machine control messages between the ECM's. The RCM uses a CAN B for communication with the Console Radio Transceiver and A STOP.
The RCM performs the functions that are listed here:
- Receive remote control commands from the Operator Console, via network radios
- Transmits remote control commands to the other ECMs on the machine
- Receives machine diagnostic information from the other ECMs on the machine
- Transmits machine feedback and diagnostic information to the Operator Console, via network radios
- Controls relays for all electrical machine features (examples include: lights, horn, remote control indication lights, machine power/ engine crank)
- Receives information from Autonomous Stop (A-Stop)
- Acts to prevent unintended machine damage

Changing RC Hours Logged in the Operator Station ECM and the System Master ECM
In the event of replacing the Operator Station ECM or the System Master ECM, the number of RC hours logged in either of those new ECMs will be zero. As such, the number of logged RC hours in the new ECMs will need to be changed to reflect the actual number of RC hours accumulated over time by the machine prior to the installation of the new ECM.
Changing Total RC Hours
- Use Cat ET to change total RC hours on the Operator Station ECM and System Master ECM.

- When connected to either the Operator Station ECM or System Master ECM, go to the "Information" drop down menu and select "Current Totals".
- Within the "Current Totals" page is a total RC hours parameter. Update the total RC hours there.
Note: A user password is needed to save the changes to the total RC hours.
Router ECM
The Router ECM is a Gateway module used to direct system communications to and from the System Master through the mine site network to the Operator Station ECM. Connection is done thru an Ethernet Link. The router is used on both the Tractor and the Station.
