Transmission from Output Transfer Gears - Separate

Start By:
- Remove the torque converter from the transmission and the output transfer gears.

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Use Tooling (B) and suitable cribbing in order to support transmission (1) and the output transfer gears.
- Cut cable straps (2). Disconnect harness assembly (3) and set harness assembly (3) out of the way.

- Remove tube assembly (5).
- Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to transmission (1). The weight of transmission (1) is approximately
565 kg (1246 lb) .Show/hide tableNOTICE Do not remove bolts (6) that hold the transmission planetary group to the transmission housing. Removal of bolts (6) could damage the planetary components.
- Remove bolts (7) and the washers.
- Use Tooling (A) and the suitable lifting device in order to help separate transmission (1) from the output transfer gears.
