824K Wheel Dozer, 825K Soil Compactor and 826K Landfill Compactor Machine Systems Caterpillar

Monitoring System (Brake Functions)

Usage:

826K 232
This machine is equipped with the Information Display. The Caterpillar Monitoring SystemThe Information Display includes the following components: an action alarm, an action lamp, a monitoring panel with alert indicators for the numerous machine systems, a tachometer and a gauge display. The system continuously monitors the numerous machine systems. The alert indicators show any abnormal condition of the machine.

(1) Action lamp. (2) Parking brake indicator. (3) Low oil pressure indicator for the brake system.

The monitoring system provides three warning categories. A Warning Category 1 requires only operator awareness. When a Warning Category 1 occurs, the monitoring system causes an alert indicator to turn on.

A Warning Category 2 needs operator response. When a Warning Category 2 occurs, the monitoring system causes one or more alert indicators to turn on. A Warning Category 2 also causes action lamp (1) to turn on.

A Warning Category 3 requires immediate safe shutdown of machine systems. When a Warning Category 3 occurs, the monitoring system causes one or more alert indicators to turn on. The monitoring system also causes action lamp (1) to flash. The action alarm also sounds.

Note: Do NOT operate the machine until the cause of the warning has been corrected.

For the brake system, a Warning Category 1 occurs when the parking brake is in the ENGAGED position, and the transmission is in the NEUTRAL position. This causes parking brake indicator (2) to flash when you start the engine. The alert indicator will turn off when the parking brake is moved to the DISENGAGED position.

For the brake system, a Warning Category 2 occurs when oil in either differential oil sump reaches a temperature of 100 °C (212 °F). However, the warning will turn off when the oil cools to a minimum temperature of 95 °C (203 °F). This warning is not applicable to the 836K Landfill Compactor.

NOTICE

If a Warning Category 2 occurs because the oil in either differential exceeds the maximum recommended operating temperature, immediately reduce the load on the machine by down shifting the transmission. Allow the oil to cool.

Failure to reduce axle oil temperature could result in significant damage to rotating components in the axle.

For the brake system, a Warning Category 3 occurs when there is a loss of brake oil pressure in the system. This action causes low oil pressure indicator (3) for the brake system to turn on. A Warning Category 3 also occurs if the machine is in operation and the parking brake becomes engaged.

When a Warning Category 3 occurs during machine operation, stop the machine immediately and engage the parking brake. Stop the engine. Investigate the cause of the warning before you return the machine to service.
