The Caterpillar Monitoring SystemInformation Display provides three warning categories. A Warning Category 1 requires only operator awareness. When a Warning Category 1 occurs, the Caterpillar Monitoring System causes an alert indicator to turn on.
A Warning Category 2 needs operator response. When a Warning Category 2 occurs, the Caterpillar Monitoring SystemInformation Display causes one or more indicators to turn on. A Warning Category 2 also causes master action lamp (5) to flash.
Note: Do NOT operate the machine until the cause of the warning has been corrected.
A Warning Category 3 requires immediate and safe shutdown of the machine systems. When a Warning Category 3 occurs, the Caterpillar Monitoring System Information Display causes one or more alert indicators to turn on. The Caterpillar Monitoring System Information Display also causes master action lamp (5) to flash. The action alarm also sounds.
When a Warning Category 3 occurs during machine operation, stop the machine immediately and engage the parking brake. Stop the engine. Investigate the cause of the warning before you return the machine to service.
Warning Category 3 occurs when there is a loss of primary steering oil pressure in the steering system. This warning occurs if the machine is equipped with the optional secondary steering attachment. Warning Category 3 will activate the alert indicator for secondary steering (4). The Caterpillar Monitoring SystemInformation Display also causes master action lamp (5) to flash. The action alarm also sounds.
If the machine is equipped with the optional secondary steering attachment, immediately steer the machine to a stop when the Caterpillar Monitoring SystemInformation Display indicates a Warning Category 3. Stop the engine and investigate the cause of the fault.
Note: Do NOT operate the machine until the cause of the warning is found.
Note: When the engine start switch is turned to the ON position, secondary steering warning indicator (4) activates for 3 seconds. This action occurs only if the machine is equipped with the optional secondary steering attachment. After 3 seconds, the alert indicator for secondary steering (4) will shut off. Investigate the cause of the fault if the alert indicator for secondary steering (4) does not activate. Do not operate the machine until the fault has been corrected.
