A new 458-6660 Machine Software Gp is now available for the machines listed above. The new machine software group updates the following changes in the machine Electronic Control Module (ECM).

  • Corrects Un-commanded Motion Detection (UCMD) error on MTL/CTL resulting from 8V sensor network shorts to ground.

  • Reduces false UCMD shutdown events during 2-Speed upshift.

  • Restores functionality of the 30 second Anti-Theft Grace Period option.

  • Added Raise Only Self Level to 242D, 257D and 259D machines.

  • Added the ability to clear Anti-Theft PINs through ET after MSS is uninstalled.

  • Minor Self Level retuning to some models.

  • Corrected Auxiliary Rate Limit issue that would cause a bucket claw to drift closed briefly after command as halted.

  • Improved UCMD at low Creep speed settings.

  • Corrected drive solenoid current dither setting. This setting could result in poor start-to move, delayed or sluggish steering response, poor"straight-line" tracking at lower travel speeds or creep settings.

  • Corrected COOL Mode (Parked Start-Up) elevated engine idle value.

  • Corrected Glow Plug not functioning issue on Tier 4i/Tier two models.

  • Corrected false codes E876 for High Voltage.

  • Added COLD Mode (Parked Running) elevated engine idle feature.

  • Contained minor Snubbing improvements.

  • Corrected minor Creep speed display bug.

  • Corrected Selectable Pattern feature installation bug.

  • Corrected Software Enabled Attachment (SEA) retention during software update.

  • Moved Speed Limit setting from operator profiles to the master profile only.

  • Added minimum Speed Limit setting of 20 percent of maximum.

  • Increased the speed of Creep ON/OFF commands.

  • Increased number of Invalid Anti-Theft PIN attempts from three to five before lockout period employed.

  • Increased Minimum Fan Speed Calibration range for certain models.

  • Improved Self Level Calibration success rate.

  • Improved 2-Speed Shift tuning.

Go to SIS Web to make sure that the new Flash File part number is still the latest Flash File part number. A newer Flash File part number may be available. SIS Web only displays the latest available flash file. The new software is available in the form of a flash file through Caterpillar Service Information System (SIS).

Note: Use the latest version of Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) for the optimal machine software support and use "WinFlash" to flash the new 458-6660 Machine Software Gp onto the Module.

The 458-6660 Machine Software Gp is adaptable to all the machines that are listed above.
