Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the nitrogen oxide sensor.

Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.

1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

2. Disconnect hose assembly (1).

3. Remove bolts (2) and reposition bracket (3).

4. Loosen ball clamp (4) and disconnect exhaust tube (5).

5. Disconnect hose (6).

7. Disconnect tube assembly (10). Remove bolt (8) and relocate harness assembly (9).

10. Remove bolts (14) and panel (15).

11. Reposition heat shield (16).

12. Disconnect clamp (17) and exhaust tube (18).

14. Loosen clamp (20).

15. Remove bolt (22) and sensor assembly (21).

17. Attach a suitable lifting device to clean emissions module (24). The weight of clean emissions module (24) is approximately 250 kg (550 lb).

18. Remove bolts (25) and clean emissions module (24).

19. Use two people to remove bracket (27). The weight of bracket (27) is approximately 32 kg (70 lb). Remove bolts (26) and bracket (27).

20. Use Tooling (A) to rotate clean emissions module (24). Place on suitable cribbing.

Installation Procedure

1. Install clean emission module (24) in the reverse order of removal.

   1. Tighten ball clamp (4) to a torque of 35 ± 2 N·m (26 ± 2 lb ft).

   2. Tighten sensor assembly (21) to a torque of 50 ± 10 N·m (37 ± 7 lb ft).

   3. Tighten clamp (20) to a torque of 10 ± 2 N·m (89 ± 18 lb in).
