Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the nose bar (main screed). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Nose Bar (Main Screed) - Remove and Install".

1. Install Tooling (A) to the main screed frame.

2. Remove the two bolts, the two washers, and plate (1) from the left side of the main frame. Repeat step on the right side of the main frame.

3. Remove the lockwire from harness assemblies (2).

4. Disconnect harness assemblies (2).

5. Remove the four bolts and plate (3).

6. Remove the two bolts, the two washers, and plate (4).

7. Disconnect temperature sensor harness assembly (5).

8. Remove 24 nuts (6) and the 24 washers.

9. Loosen the 10 nuts and 12 bolts (7).

10. Start the machine. Slowly lift off the screed from screed plate (8). Verify that the harness assemblies do not get hooked to the extender screed frame. Place the screed on the travel locks.

11. Drive the tractor forward.

12. Remove clamp plate (13) and heater element (14) from screed plate (89).

13. Remove nut (9), the washers, and the clamp.

14. Remove the eight nuts, the eight washers, eight hold downs (10), and heater element (12) from screed plate (8).

15. Remove the eight studs used for hold downs (14).

16. Remove two temperature sensors (15) from screed plate (8).

17. Remove 24 studs (11).

Installation Procedure

1. Install screed plate (8) in the reverse order of removal.

   1. Apply Tooling (B) to the shorter threaded end of 24 studs (11). Install 24 studs (11) to screed plate (8). Torque 24 studs (11) to 100 ± 20 N·m (74 ± 15 lb ft).

   2. Grind 24 studs (11) flush to the bottom of screed plate (8).

   3. Apply Tooling (B) to the eight studs used for hold downs (10). Install the eight studs used for hold downs (10) to screed plate (8). Torque the eight studs used for hold downs (10) to 100 ± 20 N·m (74 ± 15 lb ft).

   4. Grind the eight studs used for hold downs (10) flush to the bottom of screed plate (8).

   5. Apply Tooling (C) to temperature sensor (15). Install temperature sensor (15) to screed plate (8). Tighten temperature sensor (15) to a torque of 30 ± 5 N·m (22 ± 4 lb ft).

   6. Use Tool (D) and a torque wrench to tighten harness assemblies (2). Tighten harness assemblies (2) to a torque of 10.5 ± 0.3 N·m (93 ± 3 lb in).

   7. Use Tool (F) to install Tool (E) in order to secure harness assemblies (2).

1. Install the nose bar (main screed). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Nose Bar (Main Screed) - Remove and Install".
