The Handrail Group has been Improved on the 793F Off-Highway Truck {7256}

Description of Change: The handrail group has been improved on the 793F Off-Highway Truck. The improved handrail group includes additional parts to help secure the toe-kick plate on the left-hand walkway assembly.

Adaptable To: The 366-3292 Handrail Gp has been updated. The 366-3292 Handrail Gp now has a 438-9873 Plate and mounting hardware to secure the toe-kick.

The updated handrail group is adaptable to the following machines:

  • 793F AC (S/N: EMD1-77)

  • 793F (S/N: SND1-131)

  • 793F (S/N: SSP1-1027)

  • 793F (S/N: RBT1-171)

The updated handrail group is effective with the following machine:

  • 793F AC (S/N: EMD78-UP)

  • 793F (S/N: SND132-UP)

  • 793F (S/N: SSP1028-UP)

  • 793F (S/N: RBT172-UP)

Refer to the information below for instructions to update the handrail group.

Note: The new 438-9873 Plate can be fabricated.

When it is necessary to work under the machine with the body (bed) raised, attach the body (bed) retaining cable to the rear tow point. Install the rear tow point pin through the end of the retaining cable.

Failure to properly secure the body (bed) may result in personal injury or death.

Falling Hazard. May cause personal injury or death. Always attach safety lanyard to appropriate fixing point.

Machine Preparation

Note: Permit only one operator on the machine. Either keep other personnel away from the machine, or keep other personnel in the sight of the operator.

  1. Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move away from any machines that are working and any personnel.

  1. Move the transmission control to the P position.

  1. Fully raise the truck body and install the truck body retaining cable. Move the hoist control to the FLOAT position until the cable is tight, then move the hoist control to the HOLD position.

    Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cable (Truck Body Retaining)"

  1. Stop the engine.

  1. Place blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.

Note: Customers/Installers can use a suitable man lift or approved portable type access platform to assist in the installation.

    (2) 8T-3490 Weld Nut

    Note: Refer to Special Instruction, REHS1841, "General Welding Procedures"

  1. Prepare the area around the new holes for welding. Remove all paint, dirt, debris, grease, or metal chips from the area.

    Weld two weld nuts (2) behind the holes that were previously created.

  1. Repaint the walkway assembly, as needed.

Installation Procedure

  1. Secure the toe-kick to the walkway assembly by using plate (1) four bolts (3), six washers (4), and two locknuts (5) .
