The truck can stop unexpectedly in a dump area when the trucks sensors detect an object that is too close to the truck or an object that has obstructed the lane or the zone in which the truck is programmed to run. When the stopping continually happens even though the lanes are clear, reworking the dump area by increasing the distance between dump points may be necessary.
Test Step 1. INSPECT THE DUMP AREA.
A properly trained individual must carefully visually inspect the dump area at the location. Reference the site-specific procedure for inspection.
Results:
- Spillage and/or an obstacle are found upon inspection of the area. -
Repair: Remove the obstacle or clear the spillage. Properly trained personnel must perform this task.
Proceed to Test Step 2
- No spillage or obstacles have been found upon inspection of the dump area - Proceed to Test Step 2
Test Step 2. OVERRIDE THE OBSTACLE DETECTION.
Override the obstacle detection and return the truck to normal operations.
- Clear the object detection from the Command Center. For instructions on clearing object detection, refer to the CAT Command for Hauling Office Operation and Maintenance Manual.
- Using the Travel Management Screen, instruct the truck to retry operations within the dump area. For instructions on Travel Management operations, refer to the CAT Command for Hauling Office Operation and Maintenance Manual.
Results:
- The truck completes the assignment successfully without any unexpected stops within the dump area. - STOP
- The truck continues to stop within the dump area. -
Repair: Rework the distances between dump points within the dump area. This process must be performed by properly trained personnel.
