Field services indicate 370-2561 Plate As (2) may fail. Failure may be due to a separation of the lug from the plate. Refer to Illustration 2.

A failed 370-2561 Plate As (2) may prevent the operation of steering and transmission lock lever (1) .

Solution

Check 370-2561 Plate As (2). Refer to ""Procedure to Inspect 370-2561 Plate As " ".

1. Remove cover (3) .

2. Inspect the color of 370-2561 Plate As (2).

3. If 370-2561 Plate As (2) is black in color, replace cover (3) .

   Note: No further action is required.

4. If 370-2561 Plate As (2) is yellow in color:
   • Modify a new 145-8951 Plate As . Refer to ""Procedure to Modify 145-8951 Plate As " ".

   • Replace 370-2561 Plate As (2) with the modified 145-8951 Plate As . Refer to ""Procedure to Replace 370-2561 Plate As " ".

1. Remove excess material from 145-8951 Plate As (4). Refer to Illustration 4.

   Note: Remove any sharp edges.

1. Remove cover (5) and cover (6) .

2. Loosen three bolts (7) .

3. Remove and discard 370-2561 Plate As (2). Retain two washers (8) and two bolts (9) .

4. Install the modified 145-8951 Plate As (10). Use two bolts (9) and two washers (8) .

   Note: Ensure that lug is centralized in catch (11). Refer to Illustration 7.

5. Check that the transmission and steering lock lever (1) is free to move through the full range. Check that Steering Control Joystick cannot move when transmission and steering lock lever (1) is in the locked position. Refer to Operations and Maintenance Manual, "Steering and Transmission Control (STIC Steering)".

6. Tighten three bolts (7) loosened in Step 2.

7. Replace the cover (5) and cover (6) .

8. Replace the cover (3) .
