Usage:
These high vacuum pumps are used to remove the moisture from an air conditioner system before it is filled with refrigerant. See the instructions that follow for the correct maintenance and operation procedures.
Use only the correct electrical supply to operate the pump. Be sure the pump has a good electrical ground before operation is begun. Always use safety goggles during operation of the pump. |
NOTE: These vacuum pumps have a one year warranty against defect in materials and workmanship.

(1) Close exhaust valve (1), then start pump (2). Check the oil level in sight gauge (3). If the oil level is low, remove exhaust filter (4). With intake (5) closed and the pump running, add oil at the exhaust port until the gauge shows the correct level. Use only high vacuum pump oil; see the parts list. Use of any other oil in the pump will cancel the warranty.
(2) After the pump is started, turn valve (1) one revolution counterclockwise. Operate the pump with valve (1) open until there is a vacuum indication of approximately 700 microns; then close valve (1) for the remainder of the evacuation procedure, approximately 25 to 30 minutes.
If the rated vacuum cannot be gotten with the pump, check the pump oil; if contamination is found, change the oil. If there is a large increase in the oil level, there is probably too much moisture in the pump; the oil should be changed. To change the oil, the pump must be at normal temperature of operation. Open valve (6) and drain the oil. To drain additional oil, remove filter (4) and operate the pump a short time with the filter port held closed. Use the cup given with the pump to measure the correct amount of oil to be added.
If the pump is to be flushed and cleaned, drain the oil and use only High Vacuum Pump Oil (see the parts list) to flush the pump. With valve (6) open, add four ounces (118.0) of oil into fitting (5) while the pump is in operation and the exhaust port under filter (4) is held closed. Follow this procedure until the oil from valve (6) is clean, then close valve (6) and fill the pump with fresh High Vacuum Pump Oil. Clean exhaust filter (4) in an oil solvent before it is again installed.
Pump Motor Lubrication: After three years of normal or one year of heavy service, add a small amount of electric motor or SAE 10 oil to the motor bearings. DO NOT OVER OIL.
