Troubleshooting And Repair Of The 5P6590 Wiring Harness Tester Group{0651}

Usage:

Use the troubleshooting procedure shown for each item in the wiring harness tester group. If necessary, use the wiring diagrams and parts lists as a reference for the repair of these items (some items can be returned to the manufacturer for repair, see pages 2 and 16). Use the 8S4627 Circuit Continuity Tester (part of the tester group) to make all continuity tests.

5P6590 Wiring Harness Tester Group

8S4627 Circuit Continuity Tester

(1) The lamp in the handle of the tester must light visibly when the probe is in contact with the clip.

5P7277 Voltage Tester

(1) The lamp in the handle must light visibly when 12 to 36 VDC is put across the probe and the clip.

5P6596 Wiring Tester

(1) Put a 24 VDC 3 amp power supply across the (+) and (-) terminals of the tester. Put the tester circuit breaker in the ON position. The meter must indicate 24 VDC. Make the following tests:

(2) Move the circuit breaker switch to the OFF position. Connect the 5P959 Ground Adapter to the tester. Connect the clip of the ground adapter to the black (-) terminal on the tester. Make the following tests:

(3) Remove the 5P959 Ground Adapter from the tester. Connect a VOM (Volt-Ohm Meter) to the solenoid test connector. Pin A is (+) and pin B is (-). Push down on the solenoid test control switch. The VOM must have an indication of 24 VDC.

(4) Disconnect the 24VDC power supply from the tester. Connect the VOM to pin A of the solenoid test connection and to the red (+) terminal on the tester. The VOM must have an indication of 7.5 ± 1.0 ohms resistance after the solenoid test control switch has been pushed down.

5P6597 Solenoid Test Harness Assembly
